March is Reading Month
Students at Thomas Read are "Wild About Reading." Mrs. Kearis' students are "Otterly Wild About Reading!" We have learned a lot about the otters. You should be seeing a lot of reading at home this month.
You are invited to our third annual HEALTH FAIR On Thursday, March 26, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the Thomas Read Gym. We will have over 25 different booths representing community organizations and classrooms. Many of the booths will have free items for you including healthy snacks created by our students. We will have several door prizes including play equipment. All of the children who come will get a free book, and we will have a drawing for three bikes. In order for your child to have his/her name in the drawing they will need to fill out a tracking sheet designed to encourage healthy choices. Each week, starting February 23, we will send home a tracking sheet. The first week will focus on the number of minutes your child participates in a physical activity. The second week will focus on the number of servings of fruits and vegetables, the third week brushing and flossing their teeth, and the fourth week drinking water. Each week your child turns in a slip is one more time their name is in the drawing for a bike. We will give one bike at the K-1st grade span, another at the 2nd -3rd, and the third one at the 4th -5th grade span. The student must be present in order to win.
